Crab Candle Holder+

Both claws up, waiting to be handed something. A flameless tealight, an egg, a knife, the rings you take off at night. The plus is the point.

The crab. Tealight not included

Both claws, permanently up

The claws do not go down.

Which means there is always something they could be holding. Most people start with a candle. Almost nobody stops there.

An egg

Breakfast gets a mascot

One egg, raised like a trophy. Soft boiled, hard boiled, or the one you have not yet decided about. It is a ridiculous way to present an egg and that is the entire point.

Red crab holder cradling a chef's knife blade across both claws

A knife

A knife rest that is not boring

The blade lies across both claws, lifted off the board and off the counter. The handle stays exactly where your hand goes looking for it.

Rings, a watch, the small stuff

Where things stop going missing

By the sink or beside the bed. Rings go on the claws, the claws never move, and the rings are still there in the morning.

The namesake

Every crab needs a job. This one keeps the light on.

Some crabs guard tide pools. This one guards your mantel. Hand it a tealight and it holds it up with both claws like it just won something, which, as far as the crab is concerned, it has.

The tealight drops into the 38.5 mm gap between the claws, the standard size, so the ones already in your drawer will fit. Then comes the good part: the glow rises through the claws and throws a crab-shaped shadow on the wall behind it. Your guests will notice. Your cat will have questions.

Flameless tealights only, not included. The crab is plastic, and it would like to stay that way.

A day in the life

Twenty-four hours of crab

  1. Red crab holder holding an egg
Holds an egg. Feels important. Soft boiled, hard boiled, undecided. The crab does not judge.
  2. Red crab holder with a chef's knife across its claws
Knife rest. Sees things no crab should see. Blade across both claws, off the board and off the counter.
  3. Red crab holder holding a lit flameless tealight
Tealight. Peak crab. Glow up through the claws, crab shadow on the wall. This is what it trained for.
  4. Red crab holder holding two rings on a bedside table
Rings, a watch. Night shift. Everything you take off before bed, in the one place it will still be in the morning.
  5. Still holding the rings. Has not moved. Will not move. The claws do not go down.

Every crab needs a name

It arrives without one. Fix that.

The crab ships nameless, which it considers an oversight. Most people have one picked before the box is open. If you are stuck, the crab has some suggestions.

Hello, my name is Clawdia

Named yours something better? Tell us at hello@lyfemade.com. The crab would like to be famous.

Rejected: Lobster. It is not a lobster.

They multiply

One on the counter. One by the bed. One at every place setting when people come over. The price per crab drops as the count goes up.

A new line

Fun in Functional

Everything else we make answers an annoyance. A pasta rack that stores itself. An organizer that fits the cupboard you actually have.

This one answers a different question: whether the useful thing on your counter has to be boring. It does not. The crab is the first of these, and more are on the bench.

Questions

Can I put a real candle in it?

No. Use a battery flameless tealight. The crab is plastic, and an open flame will damage it. A flameless tealight gives you the same glow with none of that.

Does it come with a tealight?

No, the tealight is not included. The crab ships on its own. Any standard battery flameless tealight fits the 38.5 mm gap, including the multipacks sold at most supermarkets.

What size tealight fits?

A standard tealight. The gap between the claws is 38.5 mm, which is the usual diameter, so the ones in the multipack at the supermarket will drop straight in.

What else will the claws hold?

An egg, a knife laid across the blade, rings, a watch, a toothbrush, a stick of incense, a business card, a photo. The gap is 38.5 mm and the grip is fixed, so anything around that width stays put.

How do I clean it?

Warm water and dish soap by hand. Keep it out of the dishwasher, because the heat in a dishwasher cycle is enough to soften the plastic and distort the claws.

Where is it made?

In America, by us. Every order ships from here, and ships free with no minimum.
